We are currently looking for a Manager for our Lobster Depot on the Chatham Islands. These lie 750km to the east of New Zealand’s South Island and are home to a small community of approximately 600 people with good amenities including internet, a hospital, pub, café, store, bank, community and social activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. We are looking for a full time manager to efficiently and effectively manage and be accountable for the operational performance of our Chatham’s Lobster Depot including;

• Ensuring the cray plant is running to capacity, and efficiently without compromising on product quality or Health and Safety.
• Liaise with Lobster fishers, grade lobsters and complete necessary documentation per landing.
• Complete tailing and packing process and plan and organize freight and load out of product and complete necessary documentation per load out.
• Ensure that the processes in place will produce efficient and cost effective production.

Qualifications and experience relating to fish and/or food processing/production, risk management, transport and lean manufacturing would be as asset in this role; however, additional training can be provided. A current HT licence is essential.

You will be motivated and have excellent people skills. Your strong numerical, logistical and time management skills will be well suited to this varied and exciting role. You’ll need the ability to work independently but also be able to manage a team when necessary.

Flights from a main New Zealand centre to the Chatham Islands and assistance with accommodation will be provided for the successful candidate.
