Aquaculture Farm Remediation Workers (2)

Whangaroa, Bay of Islands

8 August 2026

Seasonal Work in Aquaculture— Bring a Friend & Live in the Bay of Islands!

If you’re on a working holiday in New Zealand or a Kiwi Adventurer dreaming of spending your days outdoors, on the water, and in one of the country’s most beautiful coastal regions, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

We’re looking for 2 reliable, hard‑working, and physically fit people to join us from early August for a 3‑month seasonal role on our oyster farms in Whangaroa, right in the heart of the Bay of Islands. Think turquoise water, epic sunsets, and a relaxed lifestyle — all while earning and learning something new.

What the Job Looks Like

You’ll spend most of your days out on the Whangaroa Harbour helping with hands‑on remediation work across our oyster farms. No two days are the same. You might be:

  • Fixing and maintaining oyster baskets on the water
  • Removing shell waste to protect the crop
  • Assembling gear on shore
  • Pitching in with general labour and farm tasks

It’s physical, team‑based work — perfect for people who enjoy being active, outdoors, and part of a crew that looks out for each other.

Why Working Holiday Travellers or Kiwi Adventurers like this role

  • Live in one of NZ’s most beautiful coastal regions
  • Spend your days on the water instead of behind a desk
  • Physical, hands-on work that is essential to oyster health & growth
  • Learn practical aquaculture skills (no experience needed — we train you)
  • Join with a friend — we have 2 roles available
  • A great way to earn while exploring Northland on your days off

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need experience — just the right attitude.

If you are:

  • Reliable and hardworking
  • Physically fit
  • Keen to learn
  • Happy working outdoors in all sorts of weather
  • Able to follow instructions and work well in a team

…then you’ll fit right in.

Because tides and weather change, you’ll need to be flexible with start times and hours — that’s just part of life on the water and farming.

Start: Early August

  • Commitment: 3 months
  • Location: Whangaroa, Bay of Islands
  • Accommodation not included

If you’re travelling NZ, or a Kiwi wanting to experience farming life on the water, and are ready for a unique Northland adventure, we’d love to hear from you.

Please send your resume and cover letter to C/o Moana NZ’s Recruitment Team at recruitment@moana.co.nz and in the subject box please put the job title.
